Reports and moderation
How reporting, blocking and takedowns work — for creators and for players.
umicat hosts content people make, so it has to take reports seriously and give players a way to opt out of each other. This page is what that machinery actually does, from both sides.
Reporting something
Games, comments, users, asset packs and pack reviews can all be reported. The report asks for a reason and lets you add details.
Reporting is private and idempotent: you're never told whether a target was already reported or even whether it exists, and clicking twice is not two reports. Both of those are deliberate — the alternative turns the report button into a way to probe for hidden content, and a way to brigade.
Blocking someone
Settings → Blocked users, or from a user's profile. Blocking is instant, private, and reversible. The person is not told.
What it does, precisely:
- You stop seeing them. Their games drop out of your feeds and their comments disappear for you.
- Their view of you does not change — except for one thing:
- They can no longer comment on your games.
That last part is the point. A block that only hides things leaves someone posting in public on your own game's page, visible to everyone except you.
What happens to a reported game
Reports are grouped by target, not by report — five people flagging one game is one decision to make, not five.
If three different people report the same game, it is automatically hidden while a human looks at it. Hidden means de-listed, not deleted: you keep the game, its project, its editor and its link. One report never hides anything, and reports against a person never act automatically.
A reviewer then does one of three things:
| Outcome | Effect |
|---|---|
| Dismissed | The game is un-hidden. A false alarm doesn't become a permanent de-listing. |
| Taken down | The game stops being publicly available. |
| Restored | Reverses a takedown. |
Takedown versus unpublishing
Two different states, easy to confuse:
- You unpublished it. Your decision, owner only, reversible by republishing. See Publishing.
- It was taken down. A moderation outcome. Only staff can reverse it.
In both cases your project, your code and your game's social history — comments, likes, favourites, play count — are left alone.
If your game is hidden or taken down
Nothing is deleted and your work is not lost. Open a support ticket from Settings → Help & Support and ask what was wrong. If it was a mistake, dismissing the reports restores the listing.
The most common genuine cause is content that does not match the age rating you declared, so it's worth checking that first.
